I’ve decided – and hopefully I can pull this off – to write 4 reviews for Anime District this weekend. A,B,C,D Anime Weekend is my working title. I don’t actually have an “A” Anime yet but “B” will be Black Lagoon. I don’t know anything about it but I hope it doesn’t suck. “C” will be Claymore, of course. I can’t wait to unleash my wrath on their premature wrap up. And “D” will be Death Note. I wrote a manga review on DN last year to minimal praise, so I hope the anime series review will garner a wider audience. Any readily available, highly recommended anime that starts with an “A” (or moderately so) – please feel free to tell me about. No yaoi or yuri… the site I write for isn’t into that.

Maybe I could keep the alphabet going with my reviews. We’ll see. That could be fun. I just know that I have to get something out for Rich (the site owner) so that he doesn’t think I’m not going to do anything after I gave my word I would.

I suppose if nothing else I could use Appleseed Ex Machina for my “A” even though it was a movie and not a series. *shrug* It doesn’t matter really. That movie will be fodder for my disdain though. Dear LORD, the bunny ears.

I need to get some velcro to keep my wireless keyboard from sliding off this laptop table. It came with these stoppers that you’re supposed to screw onto the tabletop to keep stuff from sliding off but didn’t have preset holes for screwing. I’d rather they not be there anyway since I rest my wrists on the table improperly the way you should never do. If I put those stopper things on then it would bother my wrists all the time. My god, I sure am blathering on about this. Anyway, I’m gonna get some velcro to stick on the desk and keyboard so it’ll stay where I want it to and my keyboard will stop sliding off the table all the effin’ time. SO THERE! Also it wobbles. The screws don’t screw tight enough and the thing wobbles. I don’t guess I’ll mind the wobbles so much when the velcro is there to keep things in place. I might just start velcroing everything!

I called Sara and left her a message and she called back. Apparently, she had said, “I should call April to see if she wants to hang out and do her hair” and Ruben took that as she already had and was like “Everyone come here and hang out”.

Anyway, that got covered. Darf and I went to Ruben’s but not before I got to say mean things to the store manager at GameStop. He was talking about not liking Tom Hanks and I said, “Don’t worry he doesn’t like you either” and all the customers and employees found that humorous. He tried to recover from that and said something in response and I said, “Yeah the difference is they’re famous and you aren’t.” It was fun. That guy is always a douchebag when I’m in the store.

At Ruben’s, I basically talked to Steven online until he went to bed and then Sara finally got there – she had to have dinner with one of her friends. There was a trifecta of light saber (app) wars with some iPhones. Why is it that THAT is what makes me want an iPhone?

We finally got down to hair bidness, so now my hair is black with a strip of pink. This morning in the light of day I had a sort of fun-over (hang over induced by fun) moment where I was like “what did I DO last night?”. It’s so vibrant, of course because it’s just done – it will fade in time which is no big deal whether it does or not, but it was just funny to look in the mirror and go “oh. WOAH.” hahah I’ll take some pictures once I flat iron it.

The futon is sorta hard. I might need to find a bed after all. Don’t tell my dad, he’ll just say “I told you so”. :)

I’m still thinking of ideas for a Scarfy podcast though. Possibly one where I talk about anime, manga and my endeavors into getting published. Of course I would only be doing this for fun but even for fun you want listeners. What do you guys think?

Darf finished Death Note the other day. He was sad it was over. heh. I’m glad he still has 3 live action movies to watch. That was something that cheered me when I finished reading the manga. Thankfully, in a strong franchise there are multiple branches to provide maximum entertainment.

We all watched Zombie Loan yesterday also. I really like Zombie Loan despite the fact that it is a very short series with only 11 episodes. It’s definitely not the same caliber as Death Note but it’s worth watching for sure.

The guys and I also watched Hancock. I was worried about it because it had the potential to go either way. It could have been really great or really awful. Luckily, it turned out really well. To date, I don’t think there has been a Will Smith movie that I’ve not liked. That is out of the ones I’ve actually seen. I’ve not seen every Will Smith movie ever because obviously there are ones of unappealing nature. Anyway, Hancock was great.

After Hancock we watched a couple episodes of Claymore. Claymore is my second favorite. I have problems with it mainly because the manga is wonderful and ongoing but they wrapped up the anime in a tight off-topic package instead of allowing it to be open ended. If it had just followed the manga it could possibly have a chance at a long franchise – not as long as Naruto, hopefully, but longer than 27 episodes.

I need to write some reviews for all the anime I listed in this post.

Recently, I’ve been reading (rereading actually) C.S. Lewis’ The Space Trilogy. There are things I really adore about the series just as there are many things I adore about Lewis’ other series The Chronicles of Narnia. Today (technically, yesterday) I was telling Steven that I wished they would make a movie out of The Space Trilogy because there are so many things I want him to enjoy along with me. This lead us to discuss the fact that he would read the book and I came up with an idea for me to basically read the books aloud and upload that as a kind of podcast. Basically, making the trilogy into audio books for him.

Since I will be doing this for him anyway, provided it has good quality, I’d like to offer it to anyone else who is interested in listening. I’ll probably upload them to megaupload or sendspace for anyone to download. I thought about doing other books I love. It wasn’t very long ago I was looking for audio books online to listen to while I was on the treadmill and I couldn’t come up with much by way of anything that wasn’t essentially written a thousand years ago.

If you can get an audio book or a regular old print book at the library for free, why can’t you also read or listen to any book online? Literature of any publication date should be free to the public. Obviously, I continue to support C.S. Lewis’ work postmortem. I’ve purchased The Space Trilogy twice – another story for another time.

And just a moment longer on my soapbox, I’d like to say, my only dream is to be a published author. I think about it every day. And I’d never try to keep my work out of the hands of the public by saying “no you can’t download my book online for free”. I guess I’m just the Dave Matthews Band of literature. I believe in getting it however you can and if you love it then you get out there and support the author because you love it – when you can. Just like DMB did with encouraging their concert goers to tape their live shows and trade them around with friends.

Okay enough about that… anyway expect more info about Scarfy’s Literary Corner podcast (working title) soon.

I’ve been having this pain in my chest when I stretch or roll over in bed. Sometimes when I’m just doing benign things like getting out of the car. It’s not like I’m having a heart attack or anything but it’s a sharp pain that pulls across my chest. And it’s been going on for over a month now.

I didn’t want to have to but I’m going to have to – go to the doctor for it. It’s enough to have me fairly concerned. I find that annoying too. I hate stupid crap like that going on with my body. I had all that blood work done three months ago which came back saying I was healthy yet I still have these nagging issues. Irritating.

That’s all. Bedtime.

Well, I’ve got a sweeeet ass computer set up going on here. I was going to take some picture of it but after assembling everything and putting most of my stuff back in place I’m pretty wiped out. I’m pretty annoyed that my printer only seems to want to eat paper and only worked once during it’s initial test print.

I’m also very angry that the package of paper I ordered along with my printer was delivered separately and left outside in the rain in a plastic bag. When I opened the bag the box was wet and had been taped on the side from being busted open. When I opened the box the packaging for the paper was ripped open and every piece except some in the middle were rippled by water. That’s very frustrating. So I’m going to have to write a complaint to Walmart.com which will be the first one I’ve had to make since I began ordering from them. I know it seems arbitrary because it’s just paper but still… I requested a service they should have fulfilled without damage to the product.

Geez my head hurts. Anyway, my internet/computer set up rocks and I’ll be so delighted when my futon comes in, in a week. I can hardly wait to not sleep on the floor! Wooo.

I’m going to get to bed and see if I can shake this headache.

I had some techno going today and that really pumped me up.

Question… should I be going fast for short amounts of time or steady speed for longer amounts of time? Which is better for weight loss?
